Meet our Staff


Chris Spahn
Executive Director & Co-Founder

Chris has an Electrical Engineering and Computer Programming background. She owned and ran her own business for many years. She started Birthday Dreams in 2009 in her garage. She has worn many hats through the years in her role as ED: volunteer coordinator, purchasing, gift wrapping, delivery driver, bookkeeper, Board Chair, grant writer, and many more. She also created the website and the inventory management program which are used in the day to day operations of the business. Chris is blessed to have an extremely strong, capable team who know how very important their mission is.




Andrea Bates
Program Director

Andrea has a background of 20 years in finance and customer service. She has been with Birthday Dreams since 2013. Andrea is responsible for running the programs and managing staff and volunteers. She ensures that quality products are delivered. Andrea started out as an intern and quickly became invaluable. No job was too difficult for her. She has been an integral part of the team, helping with program operations, inventory, grant writing, stewardship, bookkeeping, and managing staff and interns. She was promoted to Program Director in 2019. Her heart for our program has helped Birthday Dreams to expand the number of shelters and children that we serve each year.




Jarod Drozdowski
Development Director

Jarod Drozdowski is the newest team member of Birthday Dreams. As our Development Director, Jarod brings nearly 20 years of non-profit and fundraising management experience to our organization. In his professional career, Jarod has worked in arts/culture, academia, city government, and non-profit healthcare settings. One highlight was being the “Official Security Detail” for Santa and Mrs. Claus when he was the Event Director of the Christmas Lighting Ceremony in Leavenworth, WA. He is a proud dad of a terrific 7-year old son and a constantly-shedding 10 year old dog. Jarod holds a B.A. in Art History and a M.S. in Cultural Resource Management. In his spare time, Jarod enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, painting landscapes, photography, and continuing his research of ancient world cultures.




Lee Blankenship-Flinn
Inventory Specialist

Lee has been with Birthday Dreams since 2017. He has a background of 18 years in medical reception, hospitality and customer service. Lee is responsible for inventory tracking, delivering birthdays, and assisting with putting together birthday parties. He began as an intern. His attention to detail, computer abilities and willingness to do whatever is needed was appreciated and he was hired on when his internship expired.




Robbie Green
Program Administrator

Robbie started working for Birthday Dreams as an intern in 2018. She has a background of 10 years in collections and customer service. Robenita is responsible for putting together birthday parties, training and overseeing interns and volunteers, and assisting with inventory tracking. She owns the partnerships within the community to provide locations for birthday parties. She has a way of talking to our clients that keeps them comfortable and ensures they get the services and contacts that they need.




Becky Nickels
Executive Assistant

Becky has volunteered and then worked for several nonprofits for over 16 years. She has been with Birthday Dreams since 2018. She keeps the place running, assisting in any way that is needed, including donor stewardship, bookkeeping, wrapping gifts, picking up cakes and delivering parties. Besides helping to fulfill Birthday Dreams’ mission, Becky loves volunteering with other nonprofits: Luther’s Table, Communities In Schools of Renton-Tukwila (mentor), Renton Kiwanis Clothes Bank, Soroptimist International of Renton, and Paramount Theatre. Becky loves to bike, hike, walk and play tennis. Her greatest loves – her family: 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren.




Tiffaney Jones
Volunteer Coordinator

Tiffaney joined the team as an intern in 2019. When the Volunteer Coordinator position opened up, Birthday Dreams was pleased to offer her the position. Tiffaney communicates with volunteers and matches their skills to volunteer opportunities. She assists with day to day program tasks as needed, putting together birthday boxes, wrapping gifts, overseeing interns and volunteers, and attending community volunteer events. Tiffaney serves as the face of Birthday Dreams by conducting live videos via Facebook to reach out to our volunteers and community when support is needed.
