Join a Committee
We have several active committees that are always looking for additional help. Perhaps you would like to help us with marketing
(writing newsletter articles, creating displays, training speakers), or fundraising. Our annual
gala needs innovative and creative people to keep it exciting and inspirational. Please let us know

Development Committee – Jarod Drozdowski - Chair
The development committee meets every other month to plan the various fundraising events throughout the year
and the development of key business and donor relationships. The committee will take the lead in major
fundraising events, working with the board and the office staff. Various sub committees will meet as
needed to ensure that all fundraising events run smoothly and efficiently throughout the year. This
committee meets jointly with the Marketing Committee, which helps to support the fundraising efforts.
The Development Committee has one sub-committee that reports back to the main group. The subcommittee
listed below meets every other month.
Development Committee: Sub-committee List
Business Development: Responsible for strategizing new and innovative approaches with
regional corporate organizations to engage with corporate leadership and employees. The main goal of this
sub-committee is to raise funds for and awareness of Birthday Dreams.
Marketing Committee– Kara Cowles - Chair
Responsible for developing strategies to elevate the promotion of Birthday Dreams and any events
the organization is associated with. This committee meets jointly with the Development Committee
and helps to support its fundraising efforts.
The Marketing Committee has four sub-committees that report back to the main group. The
subcommittees listed below meet every other month.
Marketing Committee: Sub-committee List
Newsletter: Responsible for producing content relating to the
monthly Birthday Dreams newsletter.
Traditional Media: Responsible for strategizing/contacting
media connections in radio, print, television sectors and for positioning Birthday Dreams to receive
promotional campaigns therein.
Fundraising Event Committee: Responsible for concepting
and implementing new event approaches for our organization to engage with the wider community and to
foster new/existing partnerships with other groups (individuals, nonprofits, or for-profit businesses)
who can host events benefitting Birthday Dreams.
Social Media: Responsible
for producing and distributing content promoting Birthday Dreams on our social media platforms (Facebook,
Instagram, Twitter/X, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and YouTube).
Gala Committee –Jarod Drozdowski & Nicole Buesen - Co-Chairs
Our annual fundraising Gala is overseen by the Steering Committee. The committee is comprised of the Gala
chair(s), the ED and various board members and other volunteers dedicated to the production of a
successful event. Chairs of various parts of the event often join steering committee meetings to update
and work on aspects of the event together as a group. The steering committee, chairpersons and core
volunteers involved in planning the event comprise the Gala Committee.
Community Outreach Team – Leah Battin - Lead
The members of the community outreach team host group events at outside locations. These
events usually
consist of activities such as making goody bags, party hats and birthday cards. Members may also
present at speaking engagements and host a booth at community events like Renton River Days.
Stewardship – - Chair
The stewardship committee, along with the Executive Director and her team, are the foundation of
our excellent donor and volunteer relationships. Responsibilities include donor and volunteer
acknowledgements, which could include volunteer appreciation events, as well as coordinating phone, email,
and written contact with donors and volunteers who have met certain criteria outlined in the Stewardship Plan.
